There was tension along the Itobe–Anyagba expressway in Ofu Local Government Area of Kogi State as seven travellers were kidnapped by unknown gunmen.

Security analyst, Zagazola Makama, shared the news via his X account on Thursday, saying security operatives on patrol discovered an abandoned ash-coloured Toyota Avensis with registration number KTU 503 CV by the roadside on Wednesday evening.

According to the security expert, preliminary checks showed that the vehicle had eight occupants coming from Kabba, Kogi West Senatorial District and heading to Benue State when they were ambushed by gunmen around the Ojuwo Olijo forest.

“Seven passengers were taken away into the bush, while one female occupant, Elizabeth Istifanu from Kabba, managed to escape,” Makama wrote.

Makama added that soldiers, police personnel, and vigilantes were immediately mobilised to the area, and bush-combing operations were ongoing to track down the kidnappers and rescue the victims.
