The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has praised Officer Muibi Ademola (Bravo 27) for showing exceptional integrity and professionalism by turning down a ₦20,000 offer from a motorist in Okota, Lagos.

This was made known by Adebayo Taofiq, LASTMA’s Director, Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department, in a statement he signed on Wednesday.

Taofiq praised Ademola’s “uncommon integrity, discipline, and professionalism” which he put in play at the Ago–Ibiwoye axis of Okota, Lagos.

Narrating what transpired, Taofiq said, “A report revealed that motorist had drawn Officer Ademola’s attention to a developing traffic congestion within the Ago–Ibiwoye corridor. In an impressive display of alertness and commitment to duty, the officer swiftly proceeded to the location and diligently restored order and fluidity of movement within a short span.

“Overwhelmed by the officer’s prompt response and efficiency, the motorist reportedly offered him a monetary token of ₦20,000 in appreciation.

“However, in an extraordinary demonstration of moral fortitude and ethical rectitude, Officer Ademola politely declined the offer, asserting that he was merely executing his lawful responsibility for which he receives adequate remuneration from the Lagos State Government.”

LASTMA’s General Manager, Olalekan Bakare-Oki, praised Officer Ademola’s actions, saying they demonstrate strong professionalism, integrity, and commitment to the agency’s values.

Bakare-Oki noted that such rare conduct not only strengthens public confidence in the Agency but also underscores the renewed spirit of transparency, accountability, and service excellence being institutionalized within LASTMA under the visionary leadership of Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu.

The LASTMA boss added that Ademola’s action represents the new standards of morality and values promoted by the current management to restore dignity and public trust in Lagos State’s traffic enforcement officers.

The General Manager therefore urged all LASTMA personnel to emulate Officer Ademola’s sterling example by upholding the virtues of honesty, fairness, and unwavering dedication to public service.

He reiterated that the Agency remains steadfast in recognizing and celebrating officers whose actions elevate the institutional image of LASTMA and project the Lagos State Government as a bastion of integrity-driven governance.

Bakare-Oki reiterated the agency’s commitment to training, ethics, and capacity building to promote discipline and excellence among LASTMA officers.

He concluded by reiterating LASTMA’s unflinching dedication to its core mandate of ensuring seamless traffic management, public safety, and strict enforcement of road traffic regulations across the State.

In his response, Officer Muibi Ademola expressed gratitude to the new LASTMA management for its sustained investment in personnel training and retraining, which he credited for shaping his professional outlook and ethical disposition.

He further appreciated the Lagos State Government for its continued provision of essential logistics, including standard uniforms and other operational materials, which, according to him, greatly enhance the efficiency and morale of officers in the discharge of their duties.
