Family confirms Alexx Ekubo died from kidney cancer complications

The family of late Nollywood actor Alexx Ekubo has confirmed that he died from complications related to kidney cancer.

In a statement shared on the actor’s official Instagram page on Wednesday, the family disclosed that Ekubo passed away at Evercare Hospital after a brief but courageous battle with advanced metastatic kidney cancer.

The statement, signed by the family of Alexx Ikenna Ekubo-Okwaraeke, described his death as a painful loss to loved ones and admirers.

“It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, son, brother, and friend, Alexx Ikenna Ekubo-Okwaraeke,” the family said.

“After a brief but courageous battle, Alexx passed away at Evercare Hospital due to complications arising from advanced metastatic kidney cancer.”

The family noted that the actor faced his health challenges with courage, faith and hope, believing that he would eventually share his recovery testimony with the world.

“Throughout this difficult journey, he bore his pain with remarkable strength, unwavering faith, and enduring hope, believing that one day his testimony would be shared with the world,” the statement added.

They appealed to friends, fans and the general public to respect the family’s privacy during the mourning period while remembering the late actor in prayers.

“During this deeply painful time, we humbly ask for privacy and prayers for the peaceful repose of his soul, and for all who mourn this immense loss. Further details regarding funeral arrangements and other family matters will be communicated in due course,” the family stated.

The family also expressed gratitude to supporters for the outpouring of love, prayers and solidarity shown during Ekubo’s illness and after news of his death emerged.

“We sincerely thank everyone for the love, support, prayers, and understanding extended to the family throughout this period,” the statement concluded.

Ekubo, who was widely celebrated for his roles in Nollywood films and television productions, was admired for his charisma, talent and strong connection with fans across Nigeria and beyond.
