Former governorship aspirant under the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State, Dr. Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran (JANDOR), has announced his withdrawal from the 2027 governorship race, citing party unity and alignment with the decision of the party leadership.

In a statement issued on Thursday, JANDOR said his earlier decision to purchase the Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms was driven by consultation and a strong desire to contribute to Lagos State’s development. However, he noted that recent political developments within the party necessitated a reconsideration of his ambition.

He pointed specifically to the endorsement of Dr. Obafemi Hamzat by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other key APC stakeholders in Lagos as a decisive factor in his decision.

According to him, stepping down was not an indication of weakness but a deliberate act of discipline and commitment to party cohesion.

“This decision is not borne out of weakness or lack of capacity, but out of strength, discipline, and respect for party unity,” he said.

JANDOR reaffirmed his loyalty to the APC and expressed continued support for President Tinubu, describing his leadership as central to the stability of both the party and the country.

He also declared full alignment with the President’s position on the Lagos governorship succession process, stressing the importance of party supremacy and strategic consensus.

Addressing members of the Lagos4Lagos Movement, he expressed appreciation for their support and insisted the group remained a platform for inclusivity and reform rather than individual ambition.

He urged his supporters and stakeholders across the state to remain calm and committed to the party’s broader objectives, adding that political participation remains a continuous process.

“To our supporters across Lagos, your loyalty has been deeply appreciated. I do not take it for granted,” he said.

JANDOR concluded by reaffirming his commitment to the progress of Lagos State and the APC, calling for unity and collective focus ahead of the 2027 elections.
