Former Kaduna Central senator Shehu Sani has expressed gratitude to supporters and party stakeholders following his victory in the All Progressives Congress senatorial primary, saying Kaduna deserves representatives who can “stand for the people and speak for them.”

Sani, in a statement issued on Tuesday, thanked delegates, party members and supporters across the seven local government areas in Kaduna Central for entrusting him with the APC ticket ahead of the 2027 general election.

“Tonight, I stand before you humbled and deeply grateful,” he said.

“Thank you for placing your trust in me during the senatorial primaries. Your votes, your prayers, your time, and your belief in this vision mean everything.”

The former lawmaker said the victory was not personal, but belonged to everyone who believed in the leadership direction of Kaduna State under Governor Uba Sani and the APC.

“This victory does not belong to me alone. It belongs to every person who believes in the developmental course of the State Government and the APC under the effective and result-oriented leadership of Comrade Governor Uba Sani,” he stated.

According to him, Kaduna Central requires “better, positive and active representation” that would strengthen governance at both the state and federal levels.

Sani also urged young people to remain hopeful and courageous in pursuing leadership positions despite political challenges.

“This victory should motivate and inspire you to step out for leadership with courage, conscience and confidence and have no fear of the challenges or the outcome,” he added.

The former senator said the next task for the party was securing victory in the general election and ensuring APC’s success at both state and federal levels.

“The work ahead is bigger than any celebration tonight. The task before us is to win the upcoming general election and to specifically ensure the victory of the party at the State and Federal levels,” he said.

Sani further extended appreciation to fellow aspirants for what he described as a “contest of ideas,” stressing that the real challenge remained the socio-economic issues confronting the people of Kaduna Central.

He also reserved special praise for Governor Uba Sani, commending him for the “pains, stress and trauma” he endured in making political decisions in the state.

“I must specially thank and appreciate my friend, comrade and brother Governor Uba Sani for the pains, stress and trauma he experienced in every single courageous decision he made in respect of those of us in the political pitch in Kaduna State,” he stated.

The former senator equally thanked commissioners, local government chairmen, party stakeholders, security agencies, aides, supporters and members of his media team for standing by him throughout the primary process.

“Kaduna is the political capital of Northern Nigeria, it should be represented by those who can stand for you, speak for you and lawmakers you can be proud of,” Sani added.
