Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has formally endorsed Ambassador Abdulfatai Yahaya Seriki (MFR) as his preferred successor for the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship ticket ahead of the 2027 general election.
The governor’s endorsement comes ahead of the party’s gubernatorial primaries scheduled for Thursday, May 21, 2026, following what he described as extensive consultations with APC structures and leadership across the state.
In the statement released on Tuesday, AbdulRazaq described Abdulfatai Yahaya Seriki as “young, pro-people, astute, and broad-minded,” adding that he is a “great political mobiliser” with “profound investments in and extensive goodwill among the people of Kwara State.”
“I have no doubt about his capacity and that his choice is appropriate for the people of our state at this time,” the governor said.
While endorsing Seriki, the governor stressed that the decision followed wide-ranging internal party deliberations and is aimed at strengthening cohesion within the party.
He, however, clarified that the endorsement does not exclude other aspirants from participating in the primaries, urging party members and stakeholders to support Seriki for unity, stability, and continued electoral success of the APC in the state.
