Former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, has submitted his governorship nomination and expression of interest forms at the national secretariat of African Democratic Congress in Abuja ahead of the Kebbi governorship race.
The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Thursday by his media aide, Mohammed Bello Doka, who described the submission as the beginning of a political movement to reposition Kebbi State.
According to the statement, the former minister is entering the race with a commitment to tackle insecurity, revive the economy and restore confidence in governance.
“The submission of the nomination form represents the formal launch of a total rescue mission to pull Kebbi State out of insecurity, economic paralysis, failing schools, weak healthcare services and growing hardship,” the statement said.
It added that Malami was bringing years of experience in public service and national leadership to the contest.
“Malami SAN enters the race not as an ordinary politician but as a tested leader with eight years of high-level governance experience, prepared to restore security, rebuild infrastructure, revive agriculture and return hope to the people,” the statement added.
The statement further described the ADC as an emerging political platform focused on accountability, inclusion and development, saying Malami’s candidacy would provide an alternative to the current administration.
It also claimed that the former minister had commenced consultations across the 21 local government areas of the state as part of efforts to consolidate support for his governorship ambition.
“The people of Kebbi are no longer waiting for relief that never comes. The rescue has officially begun. Every citizen who desires an end to leadership failure is called upon to join this movement,” the statement said.
