The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, has congratulated independent petroleum marketer, Otunba Salimon Oladiti, on his election as President of the National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG).
In a statement issued on Tuesday through his Media Aide, Adeola Oloko, the monarch described Oladiti’s emergence as timely and encouraging, especially at a critical period in Nigeria’s history.
Oba Ladoja said the new NUPENG president’s extensive experience in the downstream petroleum sector places him in a strong position to provide effective leadership for the union.
The traditional ruler, who also serves as Chairman of the Oyo State Council of Obas and Chiefs, expressed confidence in Oladiti’s ability to offer purposeful direction and advance the interests of members.
He described Oladiti, popularly known as SAO, as a focused, committed, and accomplished individual who has earned his place through years of dedication and service.
The Olubadan also praised NUPENG for conducting a peaceful and orderly leadership transition, noting that the process was commendable and worthy of emulation, particularly by political stakeholders across the country.
He urged the new leadership of the union to place priority on unity, professionalism, and the welfare of members.
Oba Ladoja further encouraged the union to continue playing a constructive role in promoting stability and growth within Nigeria’s petroleum industry.
Oladiti recently emerged as president of the influential oil workers’ union, with expectations high over reforms and improved welfare for members.
