Our support for Tinubu intact, Kano APC insists

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State has rejected claims that it has withdrawn support for the second-term ambition of President Bola Tinubu.

The party described the report as the handiwork of a “faceless” group seeking to sow discord within the party.

In a statement issued on Saturday, the party’s State Publicity Secretary, Auwalu Abdullahi, said the alleged position credited to a group identified as the “Arewa APC Forum, Kano State Chapter” does not reflect the stance of the party or any of its recognised structures.

The Kano APC framed the development as a deliberate attempt to create internal crisis where none exists, warning members and the public against taking the claim seriously.

“We are aware of attempts by certain individuals and faceless groups to create confusion and disunity within the party,” the statement said, stressing that the so-called forum lacks legitimacy within the APC framework.

The party insisted that no constitutional organ of the APC in Kano had taken any decision to withdraw support for President Tinubu, adding that the state chapter remains firmly aligned with the leadership and direction of the ruling party at the national level.

It further clarified that the group behind the claim is unknown to party leadership and does not represent the interests or views of members in the state.

“We wish to state categorically that this so-called forum is not known to the party structure and does not represent the views of APC members in Kano State,” the statement added.

Reaffirming its political stance, the Kano chapter expressed continued confidence in President Tinubu’s administration, citing ongoing efforts in governance, economic reform, and national development as reasons for its support.

Under the leadership of Umar Doguwa, the party called on its members to remain united and focused, urging them to ignore what it described as a calculated distraction orchestrated by mischief-makers.

The statement also questioned the credibility of the purported signatory to the withdrawal claim, noting that the individual is neither identifiable nor recognised within the party at any level in Kano.

Describing the situation as an attempt to stir unnecessary political tension, the APC reiterated its cohesion and unwavering backing for President Tinubu’s vision, maintaining that the Kano chapter remains solidly behind the party’s national leadership.
