The Oyo State Police Command has announced the arrest of three suspected kidnappers in connection with the abduction of one Remi ‘F’, describing the operation as a significant breakthrough in ongoing efforts to combat kidnapping in the state.
This was contained in a statement issued on Thursday by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka.
The Command said the suspects—Musa Ajibola ‘M’ (29), Hassan Mohammadu ‘M’ (63), and Umaru Hassan ‘M’ (19)—were apprehended on April 21, 2026, at Latayo Farm Settlement in Ile-Ido following credible intelligence provided by members of the public.
According to the statement, the operation was carried out on the directive of the Commissioner of Police, Oyo State Command, CP Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga, after receiving actionable information.
“The Oyo State Police Command wishes to inform the general public of a significant breakthrough in the investigation of a previously reported kidnapping incident involving one Remi ‘F’,” the statement read.
It added that the arrests were made possible through coordinated policing efforts based on intelligence gathered from residents.
“Following such credible intelligence provided by members of the public, the Commissioner of Police, Oyo State Command, CP Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga, psc, mnips, promptly directed a coordinated operation which led to the arrest of three suspects,” it stated.
The Command further disclosed that during interrogation, the suspects admitted to their involvement in the crime, providing what it described as useful leads into the kidnapping operation.
“In the course of investigation, the suspects confessed to their involvement in the crime, thereby providing further insight into the criminal operation,” the statement added, noting that efforts were ongoing to apprehend other members of the gang.
The police commended the role of residents in supporting security operations, describing public cooperation as crucial to successful policing.
“Consequently, the Command acknowledges and commends the invaluable cooperation of members of the public whose timely and credible information has been instrumental to this achievement,” it said.
It further urged citizens to continue supporting the police through timely intelligence sharing and collaboration.
“While commending this support, the Commissioner of Police encourages citizens to deepen their trust in the Police and sustain this partnership through continuous intelligence sharing, mutual respect, and active engagement,” the statement noted.
The Command also reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring the safety of lives and property across the state, stressing that collective vigilance remains essential in tackling insecurity.
