Lere Olayinka, the media aide to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has praised his principal for uniting the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State to work for the reelection of President Bola Tinubu.

In a terse social media post on Tuesday, Olayinka threw a jab at the APC National Secretary, Ajibola Basiru, challenging him to replicate the move in his home state, Osun.

The media aide who wrote in Nigerian pidgin said, “In Rivers State, both APC and PDP are working together for President Tinubu’s reelection. Na Wike do am.

“If e easy, run am Basiru Ajibola should do the same in Osun State too. Walahi, he fit do am for him WARD self.”

The rift between Wike and Basiru is heating up. Wike had earlier warned Basiru to stay out of Rivers State politics, accusing him of being interested in the state’s resources.

In a statement on Monday, Basiru fired back, saying Wike should resign from his ministerial position if he’s unable to stop interfering in the party’s affairs.

The feud is largely centered around Wike’s support for President Bola Tinubu and his opposition to Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s re-election bid.

Basiru has publicly backed Fubara, describing him as a capable leader and urging party members to respect the governor’s office.

Wike, on the other hand, has been rallying support for his preferred candidate, claiming Fubara is not fit to lead the state.
