Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, on Monday launched security drones to enhance protection of lives and property in the North Central state.

The drones boast advanced surveillance, monitoring, and response capabilities, enabling real-time intelligence gathering and precision-led operations against terrorists and bandits.

Ododo emphasised his administration’s zero-tolerance policy towards criminality, stating that Kogi State will not negotiate with criminals or allow them to take over any part of the state.

“Today is an important day for Kogi State as we unveil security drones. This administration will not submit to criminality. We will not negotiate with criminals or allow them to take over any part of our land,” Ododo stated at the unveiling ceremony on Monday.

He emphasised the state’s strategic location as a gateway between North and South Nigeria, making security a top priority.

He noted that the drones will enhance the state’s ability to monitor forests, track movements, and disrupt criminal activities.

“The drones unveiled today will allow us to monitor forests, track movements, disrupt criminal supply routes, and neutralize threats before they mature,” the governor said.

He highlighted achievements in the security sector, including building a strong intelligence-led security framework and recruiting vigilante service personnel.

“We have built a strong, intelligence-led security framework that combines technology, community participation, inter-agency cooperation, and political will,” he noted.

The governor thanked President Bola Tinubu for his support and acknowledged the collaboration of security agencies, including the National Security Adviser, Chief of Defence Staff, and Inspector General of Police.

He also commended local security architecture, vigilantes, hunters, and community leaders for their efforts in maintaining peace.
