The management of Osun State College of Technology, Esa-Oke, has announced a dusk-to-dawn curfew in Esa-Oke community following a directive issued by traditional chiefs in the town.
The curfew, which takes effect from 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, will remain in force until 6:00 a.m. on Friday, May 8, 2026, to allow for the observance of traditional rites in the community.
This was contained in an internal memo issued by the Registrar of the institution, S.O. Popoola, and made available to staff and students on Wednesday.
According to the notice, movement of people and vehicles within Esa-Oke town will be restricted throughout the duration of the curfew.
The college management therefore advised all staff and students to stay away from the institution’s premises during the period.
Students residing within Esa-Oke town were specifically urged to remain indoors until the restriction is lifted.
“The above Management’s directive is hereby conveyed to both staff and students for compliance,” the memo stated.
Authorities also urged members of the college community to strictly obey the directive and take necessary precautions.
The development comes amid growing anxiety in the community over the health of the Owamiran of Esa-Oke, Oba Adeyemi Adediran.
Tension reportedly heightened on Wednesday afternoon after the Ogboni of Esa-Oke and second-in-command in the traditional hierarchy, Chief Paul Olamiju, announced the sudden curfew without initially stating the reason.
The directive also ordered the immediate closure of the town’s main market and suspension of all social activities.
