The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi (Ojaja II), visited the Nigeria Immigration Service headquarters in Abuja on Wednesday to renew his diplomatic passport.
The Ooni of Ife was received by Nigeria Immigration Service Comptroller-General, Kemi Nandap, and the service’s management team.
The visit was announced in a statement issued Thursday by Akinsola Akinlabi, Service Public Relations Officer, at the Nigeria Immigration Service headquarters in Abuja.
The statement read, “His Imperial Majesty, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Babatunde Ogunwusi (Ojaja II) yesterday visited the Headquarters of Nigeria Immigration Service for the renewal of his Diplomatic Passport. The revered royal father was warmly received by the Comptroller-General Immigration Service, KN Nandap, pcc, mmis, fsmn, fspsp and members of her Management Team.”
According to NIS, during the visit, the Ooni commended President Bola Tinubu, the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, and the leadership of the Nigeria Immigration Service for reforms being carried out under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
The statement noted that he expressed appreciation for policies aimed at strengthening migration management, border governance and service delivery within the immigration system.
“The first-class monarch used the opportunity to praise the President and Commander-in-Chief, Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, the Honorable Minister of Interior, Hon. Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo and the Comptroller-General on the transformative policies under the Renewed Hope Agenda being implemented at the Nigeria Immigration Service,” the statement read.
The commendation, according to the service, reflects growing recognition of the Federal Government’s efforts to reposition the Nigeria Immigration Service through institutional reforms and modernisation initiatives.
The Nigeria Immigration Service has in recent months said that it has embarked on a number of reforms, including digitalisation of passport services, enhanced border surveillance and restructuring of migration management processes, under the supervision of the Ministry of Interior.
