President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has postponed his planned trip to Iperu in Ogun State, opting instead to travel to Jos, the Plateau State capital, in a show of solidarity with victims of recent deadly attacks that have claimed several lives.

The change in schedule was announced on Wednesday in a State House press statement issued by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

According to the statement, the President’s initial visit to Ogun State, where he was expected to flag off operations at the Gateway International Cargo Airport, has been rescheduled in light of the security situation in Plateau.

Tinubu’s visit to Jos is aimed at commiserating with the state government and residents following a wave of gun attacks that resulted in the deaths of innocent citizens and heightened tensions in the region.

The visit underscores the Federal Government’s concern over the recurring violence and its commitment to addressing insecurity in affected communities.

After the Plateau visit, the President is scheduled to proceed to Lagos, where he will observe the Good Friday as part of the Easter period. His itinerary reflects a blend of official engagements and religious observances during the festive season.

On Saturday, April 4, Tinubu will travel to Ogun State to carry out the postponed engagements, including the commissioning of the Gateway International Cargo Airport.

The President is also expected to inaugurate two commercial aircraft designated for cargo operations, a move aimed at strengthening the state’s capacity for import and export activities and boosting economic growth.

During the Ogun visit, Tinubu will further commission the newly constructed edifice of the Federal Operations Unit of the Nigerian Customs Service, alongside a fleet of operational vehicles to enhance customs enforcement and logistics.

The President will subsequently return to Lagos to continue the Easter holidays. While in the state, he is expected to commission a number of major infrastructure projects executed by the administration of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

These include the Ojota/Opebi Link Bridge, a key transportation project designed to ease traffic congestion, as well as the Lagos State Geographic Information System Building.

Other projects slated for inauguration include a Multi-Agency Complex named after the President and a newly constructed school complex, reflecting ongoing efforts by the Lagos State Government to expand public infrastructure and improve service delivery.

As part of his broader itinerary, Tinubu will also visit Bayelsa State on April 10, where he is scheduled to commission projects completed by Governor Duoye Diri. The visit is expected to highlight federal-state collaboration in infrastructure development and governance.

The multi-state tour marks a significant round of engagements for the President, combining condolence visits, project commissioning, and participation in religious observances, while reinforcing the administration’s focus on national unity, economic development, and responsive leadership in times of crisis.
