NAF airstrikes hit Sambisa targets, kill several terrorists

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) says it carried out targeted airstrikes on Monday in the Yuwe area of the Sambisa Forest, eliminating a number of suspected terrorists.

The development was disclosed on Tuesday in an official statement, which noted that ongoing military operations have continued to mount pressure on insurgent groups operating in the North-East.

According to the statement, the mission was launched after credible intelligence, supported by surveillance and reconnaissance efforts, confirmed the presence of террорист elements occupying fortified hideouts and bunker positions within the area.

NAF said its aircraft deployed precision-guided munitions against the identified targets, destroying key structures, neutralising several fighters, and crippling logistics facilities.

The outcome was verified through a follow-up battle damage assessment, the statement added.

“The sustained tempo of air operations continues to degrade terrorist networks, leaving them increasingly exposed and disorganised, with mounting pressure forcing reactive and desperate actions,” the statement read.

The Chief of the Air Staff, Sunday Aneke, reiterated the force’s commitment to maintaining intelligence-led operations until terrorist groups are fully dismantled.

“We remain resolute in protecting our personnel, safeguarding the nation, and ensuring the security of all citizens,” he said.

Aneke further assured that the Air Force would intensify precision strikes across operational theatres while strictly observing rules of engagement and taking measures to minimise civilian casualties.
