Former Lagos State Governor, Akinwumi Ambode, has congratulated Dr. Obafemi Kadiri Hamzat on his emergence as the consensus governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State.
In a statement issued on Thursday, Ambode described Hamzat’s selection as the outcome of “deliberate and purposeful consultations” within the party, noting that it reflects his loyalty, commitment, and long-standing service to the APC.
He said Hamzat’s emergence was a testament to his “hard work and dedication to the party for over two decades,” adding that his experience in governance would benefit Lagos State significantly.
“Your adoption as our party’s consensus candidate is a reflection of your loyalty, hard work and dedication to the party for over two decades,” Ambode stated.
The former governor also reaffirmed his support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, describing him as central to the continued prosperity of Lagos State and Nigeria.
He expressed confidence that Tinubu’s leadership vision would deliver long-term growth and national development.
Ambode further pledged the commitment of Lagos APC stakeholders to mobilise strong electoral support for the party ahead of the 2027 general elections, including delivering substantial votes for the President and securing victories across all levels of government.
According to him, the party’s focus should include consolidating its dominance in Lagos and the South-West, while ensuring strong representation in the National Assembly.
He added that the “best days of Lagos and Nigeria are still ahead,” expressing optimism about the future of both the state and the country under the APC-led administration.
