Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has declared that the most difficult period in the history of the Labour Party is over, following the inauguration of the party’s newly elected National Working Committee (NWC).

Otti made the declaration in a statement issued on Friday after observing the maiden inaugural meeting of the new NWC at the Labour Party National Headquarters in Abuja.

The governor said the successful National Convention held in Umuahia on April 28 marked a turning point for the party and signalled the end of its internal challenges.

“Following the successful National Convention held in Umuahia on April 28, I am pleased to declare that the most challenging period in our Party’s history is behind us,” Otti said.

He added, “As I stated, no victor, no vanquished, everybody is a winner.”

Otti congratulated the newly elected National Chairman, Nenadi Usman, and other members of the committee, praising their resilience and commitment to service.

“I congratulated Distinguished Senator Nenadi Usman and all members of the new NWC. Her resilience and commitment to service are commendable,” he said.

The governor urged the new leadership to steer the party with unity, discipline and dedication, stressing that leadership must be rooted in service rather than personal ambition.

“I urged the team to lead with unity of purpose, discipline, and dedication, always remembering that true leadership is anchored on service, not personal gain,” he stated.

Otti further said the Labour Party had emerged stronger and more united, noting that reconciliation efforts were already producing positive outcomes as leaders from different parts of the country returned to the fold.

“The Labour Party has emerged stronger, more united, and better positioned to serve Nigerians. Reconciliation efforts are already yielding results, with leaders from across the country reintegrating into the fold,” he said.

Looking ahead to the next general elections, Otti said the party was already mobilising for a full participation in the 2027 polls.

“The task ahead is clear: we are preparing to fully participate in the 2027 general elections, and with unity, we shall succeed,” he added.
