A two-time Lagos commissioner and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Pharm. (Mrs) Uzamat Akinbile-Yussuf, has denied allegations circulating online that she paid ₦100 million to secure the party’s ticket.
In a statement on Friday, the aspirant for the House of Representatives seat for Alimosho Federal Constituency under the APC dismissed the report as “false, malicious, and unfounded,” insisting that she has never offered money to any individual or group within the party in pursuit of her political ambition.
“I did not pay any money to anyone for my nomination. I do not need bribery to emerge as a candidate in a party I have served faithfully and diligently over the years,” she said.
The former Lagos State Commissioner said the allegation was fabricated by individuals she described as having questionable intentions and lacking genuine interest in the progress of the party.
Reaffirming her loyalty within the party structure, she stated that Hon. Bisi Yusuf remains the apex leader in Alimosho Federal Constituency, adding that her respect for his leadership remains intact.
“His vision, wisdom, and dedication to the growth of our political structure—particularly through The Mandate Movement (TMM)—have continued to inspire many of us. My loyalty to him remains undiluted,” she said.
Akinbile-Yussuf also clarified that she maintains a cordial relationship with fellow aspirant, Hon. Ganiyu Adele Ayuba, describing their interaction as respectful and rooted in shared political values.
She stressed that her aspiration is driven by competence and service to the people rather than financial inducement.
“Nigerians are becoming increasingly discerning. Leadership today is about ideology, competence, character, and courage—not money,” she added.
Condemning what she called a coordinated misinformation campaign, she warned that further attempts may involve manipulated media content aimed at misleading the public.
“The allegations are baseless and reflect the desperation of those behind them. We will not be distracted,” she stated.
She also reaffirmed her commitment to the APC and expressed support for the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, particularly its Renewed Hope agenda aimed at national development.
