Doris Ogala has criticised what she described as hypocrisy within the Nigerian film industry following the reported death of actor Alexx Ekubo, accusing some of his colleagues of showing public sympathy only after his passing.
In a Facebook post shared on Wednesday, the actress expressed anger over the outpouring of tributes and old videos being posted in memory of the late actor, questioning how many of those now mourning him supported him while he was alive or defended him during periods of public criticism.
“YEYE NOLLYWOOD FAKE ASS PEOPLE. HOW MANY OF YOU POSTED THIS BOY WHEN HE WAS ALIVE OR EVEN WHEN THEY WERE DRAGGING HIM. NOW EVERYONE REMEMBERS THE VIDEOS THEY MADE TOGETHER,” she wrote.
Ogala further condemned what she called “fake tears” and insincere displays of affection after death, warning against pretended love from colleagues who failed to care when it mattered most.
“IF I DIE AND YOU FAKE YEYE TEARS. I WILL COME IN THE SPIRIT AND BRING YOU WITH ME. SINCE YOU WANT TO FAKE LOVE AND CARE IN DEATH. STUPID PEOPLE. SO MUCH HATE. TUFIA,” she added.
In a second part of the post, the actress broadened her criticism to Nollywood, alleging that many people in the industry are driven by selfish interests and only associate with others for personal gain.
“YOU SEE THIS NOLLYWOOD PEOPLE. NO BODY CARES. ALL THEY WANT IS WHAT THEY CAN GET FROM YOU. ALEX IS DEAD NOW AND BOOM EVERYONE IS POSTING THEIR MOMENT WITH HIM, HOW MANY OF YOU REACHED OUT,” she stated.
She also appeared to take aim at unnamed colleagues, including one identified as Ruth, accusing them of contributing to gossip and negativity while now joining public tributes.
“THE LIKES OF RUTH. THAT FOOLISH GOSSIP THAT WANTED ME TO DWELL IN THE GOSSIP SHE TOLD ME FOR YEARS… THIS PEOPLE ARE EVIL,” Ogala wrote.
Her comments come amid growing reactions from fans and entertainers over reports surrounding Ekubo’s death, with many taking to social media to celebrate his life and career.
