Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, has said the All Progressives Congress (APC) strengthened its internal democracy through the successful conduct of its National Assembly primaries across the country, noting that the exercise in his state was peaceful and credible.

In a statement on Tuesday, he said the process reflected unity within the party in the state, adding that the APC now awaits official ratification of results by the national leadership.

“With the Direct Primary Election, we have continued to strengthen the democratic foundation and internal processes of our great party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), as we successfully and peacefully conducted the National Assembly Primary Elections across the nation.

“In Imo State, we remained united, orderly, and peaceful throughout the exercise, resulting in the emergence of credible candidates for the various Federal Constituencies and Senatorial Districts. We now patiently await the official ratification and release of the results by the National Leadership of our great party.

“I sincerely commend every party member in our dear Imo State, as well as the leadership of the party, for ensuring a transparent process that recorded a peaceful and successful outcome. As we move forward into the remaining phases of the electoral process, we remain optimistic, focused, and committed to the unity and progress of our party,” he said.

The party on Monday concluded its senatorial primaries across various states, producing candidates for the 2027 general elections.

However, the exercise was met with controversies in several constituencies, as reports of disputes, protests, and allegations of imposition trailed parts of the selection process, even as party leaders insisted the exercise was largely successful and democratic.
