The Deputy President of the Senate, Barau Jibrin, on Monday congratulated President Bola Tinubu on emerging as the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general election.

In a statement he signed personally, Barau described Tinubu’s victory as a clear demonstration of the confidence party members across the country have in the president’s leadership.

According to him, the nationwide exercise was conducted peacefully and transparently across wards, local government areas, and states of the federation.

Barau, who said he supervised the exercise in Kabo Ward of Kabo Local Government Area of Kano State, noted that the primary election reflected the strength and unity of the ruling party.

At the end of the exercise, the results announced at the International Conference Centre in Abuja showed that President Tinubu secured 10,999,162 votes to defeat his only challenger, Stanley Osifo, who polled 16,503 votes.

The Senate Deputy President said the outcome of the primary election signaled what to expect in the January 16, 2027 presidential election, predicting a landslide victory for the APC candidate.

“This overwhelming mandate is a clear affirmation of the trust and confidence reposed in Mr President by members of our great party across the 774 local government areas of our country,” Barau stated.

He further congratulated the president on what he described as a resounding victory, expressing confidence that Tinubu would secure a second term in office.

“Insha Allah, your second term is assured,” he added.
