Former Anambra State Governor and 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has urged Nigerians to embrace faith, sacrifice, unity, and hope as Muslims across the country and the world celebrate Eid-el-Kabir.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, Obi congratulated the Muslim Ummah on the occasion of the festival, describing Eid-el-Kabir as a sacred celebration that reflects the virtues of obedience to God, compassion, love for humanity, and commitment to the common good.

He called on Nigerians to use the Sallah celebration as a period of prayer for national unity and renewed hope, stressing that the values symbolised by the festival are crucial at a time when the country is facing economic and security challenges.

According to him, Nigeria remains a nation with enormous potential despite its current difficulties, adding that the lessons of sacrifice associated with Eid-el-Kabir should inspire citizens not to lose faith in the possibility of building a functional, just, and productive society.

Obi also appealed to Nigerians to remember security personnel on the frontlines in their prayers, while urging leaders to demonstrate wisdom in governance and work towards providing economic relief for citizens facing hardship.

He further encouraged peaceful coexistence, mutual respect, and unity across religious and regional lines.

The former presidential candidate prayed for joy, peace, and renewed hope for Nigerian families and communities, wishing Muslims a blessed and fulfilling Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
