Release Achimugu on your  bail conditions – Court tells EFCC

Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has directed the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission to release businesswoman Aisha Achimugu on the commission’s bail conditions.

This order was made on Wednesday after the court was informed that  Achimugu’s previous bail to her lawyer was revoked by the Commission and fresh conditions were issued.

During the proceeding, an attempt by her counsel, Kehinde Oguwumiju, SAN,  to seek a variation of the terms of the bail was opposed by the Commission’s counsel, E.E Iheanacho, SAN, and rejected by the court.

Following this, the same was withdrawn by her lawyer.

Achimugu is being investigated by the Commission for alleged conspiracy,  money laundering,  and obtaining under false pretense, corruption, and possession of properties suspected to have been acquired through unlawful means.

She was arrested on Tuesday, April 29, 2025 and brought before the court on Wednesday.

Justice Ekwo, in a short ruling,  said the commission should expedite actions to ensure the processing of all bail conditions and directed all parties to report on compliance with the directive on May 2, 2025
