Ibadan: Tensions as tanker loaded with LPG summersaults

There was tension around Sat Guru Mahraji area of Ibadan in Oyo State on Monday as a tanker conveying twenty six (26) tons of Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG) summersaulted.

The incident was confirmed to Daily Post by the Chairman of Oyo State Fire Service, Hon Maroof Akinwande, on Tuesday.

Akinwande revealed that the incident occurred a few minutes to the defunct toll plaza along the Lagos/Ibadan Expressway, stating that the tanker swerved off the road and fell on an open road before summersaulting.

While noting that no life was lost in the incident, Akinwande added that normalcy had been restored to the road as of the time of filing this report on Tuesday.

Akinwande said, “Upon arrival, it was a Mack trailer tanker registration no T25163LA loaded with twenty -six (26) tons capacity of Liquified Petroleum Gas(LPG) swerved and fell on an open road.

“The officers of the agency quickly swung into action by engaging necessary equipment so as to calm down the situation and prevent the tanker from explosion.

“No casualty was recorded and the tanker was saved. Normal vehicular movement has been restored”.
