The All Progressives Congress (APC) has commended Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, for his courageous decision to join the ruling party, describing the move as a strategic step that will accelerate development and entrench good governance in the state.
This was contained in a statement by the ruling party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, on Tuesday.
Describing the move as courageous, APC said Mbah’s defections would consolidate and accelerate development and good governance in the state.
“The All Progressives Congress (APC) warmly welcomes the Governor of Enugu State, His Excellency, Dr. Peter Mbah, other members, leaders and stakeholders to our great Party,” a part of the statement says.
On the importance of joining the ruling party, APC said, “It will bolster Governor Mbah’s leadership and impressive record of achievement for which he has been recognized with several local and international awards, including the 2025 Presidential GovTech Awards for innovation and technology-driven public service delivery.”
The party continued, “The Governor’s decision to join the APC and align with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda is a smart repositioning of Enugu state as a strategic partner, participant and beneficiary of the massive economic transformation currently underway in our nation, and will inure to the good and prosperity of the people of the state, and the entire SouthEastern Nigeria.
“Our great Party assures His Excellency and teeming new members of its fullest support, accommodation and seamless integration into the APC family.”
Earlier, Mbah made the declaration to join the APC during a state-wide broadcast to the people of the state, defending his decision to switch camp. The governor said the move was necessitated to connect the South-Eastern state to the central government.
Mbah also commended President Bola Tinubu’s policies, saying the state has enjoyed massive support under the President.
The PDP governor, moved to the ruling party with House of Assembly members, councillors, chairmen of councils and others.
