Atiku’s aide faults Nuhu Ribadu for blaming PDP over Oyo school abduction

Paul Ibe, media adviser to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has criticised National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu over comments suggesting that President Bola Tinubu inherited the country’s security challenges from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

In a post on X on Tuesday, Ibe described Ribadu’s position as “revisionism à la APC,” accusing the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of attempting to shift responsibility for the worsening security situation to a government that left office 11 years ago.

According to Ibe, it was disingenuous for the NSA to blame the inability of the Tinubu administration to secure the release of the abducted schoolchildren and teachers from Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State on the PDP administration that was voted out of power in 2015.

He argued that the APC-led government should take responsibility for addressing the security challenges confronting the country rather than attributing them to previous administrations.

Ibe also criticised the Federal Government’s response to the abduction, claiming that it took President Tinubu two weeks to send a delegation to visit the families of the kidnapped pupils and teachers.

The Atiku aide further contended that Tinubu himself inherited security challenges from his predecessor, who was also elected on the platform of the APC, and therefore could not continue to deflect blame.

“Keep on blaming everyone except yourself while the children continue to languish in the custody of their abductors in Oyo, Borno and elsewhere,” Ibe wrote.

His remarks were in reaction to comments attributed to Ribadu in which the National Security Adviser reportedly said the Tinubu administration inherited deep-rooted security challenges from the PDP era.

The exchange comes amid growing public concern over the fate of abducted students and teachers in Oyo State, with opposition figures intensifying criticism of the Federal Government’s handling of insecurity across the country.
