Lagos businessman and socialite, Emeka Okonkwo, popularly known as E-Money, has confirmed he will fulfil his N50 million pledge to comedian Carter Efe after the entertainer defeated street-hop singer Habeeb Okikiola, widely known as Portable, at the Chaos in the Ring 4 event in Lagos.
The celebrity boxing showdown took place on Friday night at Balmoral Hall, Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, where Carter Efe secured a unanimous decision victory after three rounds of action-packed entertainment.
Speaking after the bout, E-Money congratulated the comedian and reaffirmed his earlier promise.
“You know we put our money where our mouth is. Congratulations Carter on your win. N50 million for you,” he said.
The event promoter and Chief Executive Officer of Balmoral Group Promotions, Ezekiel Adamu, described the show as a success, saying it lived up to expectations.
“We promised Chaos in the Ring and we have delivered very entertaining fights tonight. There is more coming. Thanks to everyone that made this a success and to the fighters for the great display,” Adamu stated.
The fight followed weeks of heated exchanges on social media between both entertainers.
Portable had boasted ahead of the contest, saying he would add Carter Efe to his list of celebrity boxing victims.
“I will use you to collect my third belt. Charles Okocha was bigger than you, Speed Darlington was bigger than you and I beat them. I will beat you now,” Portable had said.
Carter Efe, however, fired back confidently, saying, “One punch and you fall.”
Inside the ring, Carter Efe controlled much of the contest, making effective use of his height and reach advantage. He landed cleaner punches, including body shots and uppercuts, while Portable relied on aggressive but largely wild swings.
At the end of the contest, judges scored the fight in Carter Efe’s favour, handing him a clear unanimous decision win.
In the co-main event, Godday Appah was crowned the new WBO Africa cruiserweight champion after defeating Ezra Arenyeka by split decision in what organisers described as a symbolic “WBO Peace Fight” involving Niger Delta communities.
Basit Adebayo also claimed the WBO Africa title after a unanimous decision victory over former WABU champion Loren Japhet.
The event attracted major attention for its mix of sports and entertainment, with Carter Efe’s victory seen as a notable upset over Portable, who had previously won celebrity bouts against Charles Okocha and Speed Darlington.
