Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has announced the birth of a baby boy with his wife, Omobewaji Ewatomi, just hours after losing his celebrity boxing bout against comedian Carter Efe in Lagos.
The artiste shared the news on Saturday through his Instagram page, shortly after suffering a unanimous decision defeat at the Chaos in the Ring 4 event held at Balmoral Hall.
Reacting to the mixed emotions of the day, Portable said the arrival of his newborn son meant far more to him than winning a championship belt.
“My wife has just delivered a baby boy. That is more valuable to me than any belt. A belt can be bought, but a child cannot,” he said.
The singer also expressed disappointment over the result of the boxing contest, alleging that the outcome was unfair.
He said he had hoped to celebrate with the title after the fight but instead returned home to the joyful news of his son’s birth.
Portable appreciated his wife for safely delivering the child and described the moment as a blessing for the family.
His wife, Omobewaji, also confirmed the birth in a social media post, writing “Alhamdulillah” while sharing updates that suggested the baby has been named Jamal Iremide.
She further celebrated the newborn’s arrival, referring to him as her “little blessing.”
Portable added that the timing of the delivery made the day even more memorable, revealing that his wife was in labour while he was inside the ring.
“While my wife was in labour, I was fighting. She gave birth to a boy,” he said.
The singer noted that he had wanted to win another boxing belt for his children but was still grateful for the bigger gift of welcoming a new child.
Portable, known for his outspoken personality and controversial lifestyle, already has several children from previous relationships and has often spoken publicly about expanding his family.
