The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that the third and final phase of the ongoing nationwide Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise will commence on Monday, May 11, 2026.

The commission disclosed this in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Chairman of its Information and Voter Education Committee, Mohammed Kudu Haruna.

INEC recalled that the second phase of the registration exercise was suspended on April 17, 2026, to enable the commission clean up the voters’ register after its publication for claims and objections by registrants.

According to the commission, the final phase of the CVR will run from Monday, May 11, 2026, to Friday, July 10, 2026.

It urged eligible Nigerians who have attained the age of 18, as well as those who were unable to register during the earlier phases, to take advantage of the opportunity to register.

INEC also advised already registered voters seeking transfer of registration, replacement of lost or damaged Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), or correction of personal details to use the commission’s online portal or visit INEC offices nationwide.

The commission said the voters’ register would be displayed for claims and objections from Thursday, July 23, to Wednesday, July 29, 2026, in line with statutory provisions.

It explained that the exercise would give citizens the opportunity to scrutinise the register and help ensure its accuracy, completeness and credibility.

INEC further assured Nigerians that all necessary arrangements had been concluded for the smooth conduct of the exercise.

The commission appealed to all eligible citizens to participate in the registration process, describing it as vital to strengthening the country’s electoral system.
