The Force Commander of the Multinational Joint Task Force, Major General Saidu Audu, has visited the headquarters of Operation Hadin Kai in Maiduguri, calling for stronger cooperation in the ongoing fight against terrorism.

The details of the visit were contained in a statement issued by Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba of the Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East) Operation Hadin Kai on Wednesday.

The visit, which took place on Tuesday, was aimed at deepening operational ties between the MNJTF based in N’Djamena and the Joint Task Force operating in Nigeria’s North-East.

During the engagement, Major General Audu received an operational briefing on activities of Operation Hadin Kai and later held discussions with senior military officers on strategies to improve joint operations.

He said the purpose of the visit was to generate fresh ideas that would lead to greater operational successes and improve synergy between both forces.

According to him, closer collaboration remains the most effective means of defeating terrorist groups and limiting their ability to operate within the region.

Audu described the MNJTF as a unique multinational security alliance made up of troops from member countries working together to combat insurgency and restore stability across the Lake Chad region.

He also commended the Theatre Commander of Operation Hadin Kai, Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar, for the warm reception and praised the command for what he described as significant operational achievements that have helped bring insurgency under control.

In his remarks, Abubakar described the visit as timely and strategic, saying it would further strengthen the operational effectiveness of both formations in the collective security, peace and economic interest of participating nations.

He reaffirmed Operation Hadin Kai’s commitment to sustained partnership with the MNJTF in tackling terrorism and insurgency in North-East Nigeria, while pledging continued efforts to protect lives and property to support economic activities in the region.

The visit was attended by senior officers from both formations, including the Acting General Officer Commanding 7 Division Nigerian Army and Commander Sector 1 Operation Hadin Kai, Brigadier General Ugochukwu Unachukwu, Deputy Force Commander MNJTF Brigadier General Ndjonkep Frederic, and the Chief of Staff to the Theatre Commander, Brigadier General Sani Ahmed.

Activities during the visit included inspection of a quarter guard, operational briefings, an interactive session, exchange of souvenirs, signing of the visitors’ register and a group photograph.
