NAOWA president leads Sallah humanitarian outreach in Abuja

The President of the Nigerian Army Officers’ Wives Association (NAOWA), Dr Safiyyah Hassan Shaibu, on Saturday, 23 May 2026, led a Sallah humanitarian outreach at the Guards Brigade Sports Complex, Aguiyi Ironsi Cantonment, Asokoro, Abuja.

The statement, signed by Jemila Jimoh on Tuesday, noted that the outreach was held in the spirit of compassion, unity and service to humanity and featured the distribution of relief materials and welfare support packages to beneficiaries.

It attracted families from military communities, including widows and dependants of fallen heroes, as part of NAOWA’s ongoing welfare and humanitarian initiatives.

The event took place at the Guards Brigade Sports Complex within the Aguiyi Ironsi Cantonment and drew expressions of appreciation from recipients who benefited from the seasonal support.

Speaking at the event, Shaibu described Sallah as a period of sacrifice, love and generosity, stressing the need to extend kindness to military families and the wider society.

She reaffirmed NAOWA’s commitment to sustaining programmes that promote social welfare, uplift vulnerable groups and strengthen community solidarity.

She also encouraged members of the Nigerian Army Soldiers’ Wives Association (NASWA) and the public to uphold values of empathy, peaceful coexistence and selfless service, particularly during festive periods.

The outreach concluded with the distribution of relief items, presentation of welfare packages, and group photographs, with beneficiaries expressing gratitude for the gesture.

The initiative further underscored NAOWA’s humanitarian mission and the leadership role of Dr Safiyyah Hassan Shaibu in advancing community-focused welfare programmes.
