A former presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has reiterated the need for sustained investment in healthcare and education, following a series of engagements and donations during his visit to Bauchi.

In a post shared on X on Saturday, Obi disclosed that he donated N10 million to Thomas Moore School of Health, Sciences and Technology to support student scholarships, as part of his itinerary in the state on Thursday.

The former Anambra State governor explained that the visit formed part of a broader tour of key institutions in Bauchi, where he also met with Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed and visited educational facilities, including Madarasatu Intisharul Islam Qismu Tahfizul Qur’an in Yelwa and Malikiya College of Nursing Sciences.

“Finally as part of my itinerary in Bauchi state on Thursday 23rd, 2026, after meeting with the state Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, visiting Madarasatu Intisharul Islam Qismu Tahfizul, Qur’an, Yelwa, Malikiya College of Nursing Sciences, Bauchi, I also visited Thomas Moore School of Health, Sciences and Technology, Bauchi,” Obi wrote.

He noted that his latest donation builds on previous support to the institution, recalling an earlier contribution that aided infrastructural development.

“I had visited the institution in the past and donated 10 million naira, which, according to management, contributed immensely to modernising their laboratories,” he stated.

Obi added that the additional N10 million donation was specifically targeted at expanding access to education through scholarships for students.

“During my visit, I donated an additional 10 million naira to support scholarships,” he said.

The former presidential candidate stressed that investment in healthcare remains fundamental to national development, urging greater attention to human capital development.

“Health is No. 1 critical for development and we must invest in the human infrastructure needed for that development,” Obi added.
