Nigerian singer and songwriter Niniola has revealed that her husband, Michael Ndika, has passed away.
The afro-house star shared the heartbreaking news through a series of emotional posts on her Instagram story in the early hours of Wednesday.
Ndika, who reportedly served as the Chief Executive Officer of NaijaReview, a media platform dedicated to afro-house and contemporary African music, was said to have died under circumstances that have not yet been made public.
In one of the posts, the singer simply wrote, “God took him,” before following it with another message that read, “My husband died.”
Expressing deeper grief in a subsequent post, the 39-year-old singer reflected on the length of their relationship, writing, “God took him. 13 years. 13 f***ing years.”
The posts were accompanied by photos of the couple together.
Despite her celebrity status, Niniola had largely kept her marriage and private life away from public attention, making the announcement a surprise to many fans and followers.
The singer gained national recognition after emerging as one of the standout contestants on the 2013 edition of Project Fame West Africa. Since then, she has built a successful career in the music industry and earned international acclaim for her unique afro-house sound.
Her breakout hit, “Maradona,” released in 2017, brought her global attention and recognition from several international stars, including DJ Snake, Drake, Timbaland, and Beyoncé.
