Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, on Friday said the All Progressives Congress primaries held in Agege reflected the unity, discipline and loyalty of party members to the ideals of the ruling party.
Obasa, in a statement following the conduct of the party’s House of Assembly primaries in the area, expressed satisfaction with what he described as the transparent and peaceful exercise that produced High Chief Ganiyu Kola Egunjobi and Barrister Azeez Oladapo Ninalowo as candidates for Agege Constituencies I and II respectively.
The Speaker also disclosed that he joined other party leaders, stakeholders and supporters in affirming Obafemi Hamzat as the consensus governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress for the 2027 governorship election in Lagos State.
According to Obasa, all processes connected with the primaries were conducted openly and in line with the guidelines and principles of the APC.
He stated that officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission, security agencies, members of the media and party leaders were present during the exercise to ensure transparency and credibility.
The Speaker described Agege as a strong political structure founded on continuity, participation and collective responsibility, stressing that loyal party members remained committed to the growth and progress of the APC in the state.
Obasa also took a swipe at critics of the process, saying individuals who distanced themselves from party activities should not question decisions reached by members who had consistently remained active and committed to the party.
“As we move toward 2027, our focus remains unity, stability, and strengthening the APC for greater service to Lagosians,” he stated.
The development comes amid growing political activities and consultations within the Lagos APC ahead of the 2027 general elections.
