The National Leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Henry Seriake Dickson, is set to inaugurate the party’s newly constituted Selection Committee as part of preparations for the forthcoming general elections.

According to a statement issued by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director Esq., the inauguration ceremony will take place on Monday, May 25, 2026, at the NDC National Secretariat by 4:00 p.m.

The development follows the successful conclusion of the party’s screening exercise for governorship, National Assembly and State Houses of Assembly aspirants across the country.

The statement explained that the Selection Committee was constituted last week in line with the party’s commitment to transparency, internal democracy and credible candidate selection processes.

The committee is expected to review and deliberate on reports submitted by both the National Screening Committee and the various State Houses of Assembly Screening Committees before making final decisions on the eligibility and screening outcomes of aspirants seeking the party’s tickets.

According to the party, the committee will be chaired by the NDC National Chairman, Moses Cleopas Zuwoghe.

The party noted that the establishment of the committee was initiated by Dickson in collaboration with recommendations from the National Working Committee as part of broader efforts aimed at strengthening the party ahead of the elections.

It added that the 21-member committee has been tasked with ensuring that the NDC fields what it described as the most formidable candidates for all elective positions during the general polls.

The party leadership maintained that the process underscores its resolve to uphold fairness, accountability and merit in the selection of candidates across all levels.
