The Headquarters, Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI, in collaboration with Operation DESERT SANITY V/SIEGE OPERATIONS, says troops have sustained operational momentum across the North East.
In a statement posted on the Nigerian Army’s official X account on Friday, the military said it recorded major successes including the foiling of terrorist attacks, neutralisation of insurgents, arrests of criminal collaborators, and the rescue of abducted civilians.
The military also added that troops ensured peaceful Eid-el-Adha celebrations in affected areas while strengthening civil-military cooperation across the theatre of operations.
According to the statement, troops successfully thwarted coordinated Boko Haram/ISWAP activities along the Buratai–Chara axis in Borno State after surveillance systems detected large movements of insurgents.
The Army said swift engagement forced the terrorists to retreat in disarray, with follow-up pursuit operations inflicting further casualties and leading to the recovery of 169 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition. It added that no troops were lost in the encounter.
In a separate operation, troops of the 27 Task Force Brigade, working with the Civilian Joint Task Force and local hunters, ambushed insurgents in Kasaicia village, Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe State, neutralising four terrorists and recovering two AK-47 rifles.
Another attempted attack along the Kirawa axis was also foiled, with troops maintaining control of the battlespace.
The Army further disclosed that coordinated offensive operations were conducted across several corridors, including Damboa–Kanama, Damboa–Gwoza, Goniri axis, and FOB Azir, aimed at denying terrorists freedom of movement and reinforcing operational dominance in the region.
On counter-crime operations, troops arrested three suspected armed robbers in Biu Local Government Area of Borno State following intelligence reports. Items recovered included mobile phones, wristwatches, charms, a dagger, cash, and a dane gun, which was returned to its owner after verification.
Two other suspects—a terrorist collaborator in Monguno and a suspected drug peddler in Mubi South Local Government Area of Adamawa State—were also arrested and are currently under investigation.
The Army also confirmed continued rescue operations, stating that additional abducted civilians were freed along the Ngoshe–Amuda axis, bringing the total number of rescued persons from the incident to 69.
One kidnapped civilian was also rescued in the Gwoza axis, reportedly escaping captivity due to sustained military pressure on terrorist enclaves in the Mandara Mountains.
The statement reaffirmed the military’s commitment to sustaining offensive operations and restoring lasting peace in the North East.
