Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on his third anniversary in office, describing his leadership as a decisive turning point in Nigeria’s economic and governance trajectory.

In a detailed statement marking the milestone, Jibrin said the President assumed office at a moment of significant national difficulty, but has since demonstrated “unwavering determination” to stabilise and reposition the country’s economy.

“Three years ago, President Tinubu assumed office at a critical juncture. Today, I salute his unwavering determination to reset our economy and renew the hope of millions of Nigerians.”

He noted that the administration’s early policy decisions, though challenging, were necessary steps aimed at correcting long-standing structural weaknesses in the economy.

According to him, the reforms have begun to reshape fiscal operations, revenue mobilisation, and macroeconomic planning across government institutions.

Jibrin added that the Tinubu administration has prioritised bold economic adjustments, including efforts to strengthen public finances, improve coordination between federal and sub-national governments, and create an environment more attractive to investment and long-term growth.

He further explained that the government’s reform agenda is not limited to fiscal policy, but also extends to infrastructure development and institutional strengthening across key sectors of the economy.

These, he said, are aimed at laying a foundation for sustainable development and national competitiveness.

The Deputy Senate President acknowledged that the reform process has come with temporary hardships for citizens, but insisted that such sacrifices are part of a broader restructuring effort designed to secure long-term benefits for the country.

He maintained that the collaboration between the executive and the National Assembly has remained strong in advancing the administration’s policy direction, particularly in legislative support for key economic and governance reforms.

Jibrin called on Nigerians to remain patient and supportive of the ongoing reforms, expressing confidence that the current direction will ultimately deliver economic stability and renewed national confidence.

He reaffirmed his belief that the administration’s policies are setting Nigeria on a path toward recovery, urging citizens to sustain trust in the government’s efforts to build a stronger and more prosperous nation.
