Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has congratulated Muslims in the state and across Nigeria on the celebration of Eid-el-Kabir, urging citizens to reflect on the values of sacrifice, obedience, love, and compassion associated with the festival.

In a statement issued on Wednesday by his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, Adeleke described Eid-el-Kabir as a period that reminds humanity of the importance of total submission to the will of Allah and the need to promote peace, unity, and kindness in society.

The governor said the spiritual lessons of the celebration align with the vision of his administration, which he said is anchored on service, fairness, and commitment to the welfare of the people.

Adeleke called on residents of Osun State to use the festive period to assess the impact of his administration across key sectors such as infrastructure, health, education, workers’ welfare, and social development.

“As you drive through our towns and villages, check through our deliveries and services to our people. We are committed to serving you now and all the time,” the governor said.

He reassured residents of his administration’s commitment to religious harmony, inclusiveness, and equal opportunities for all citizens irrespective of religious or political affiliation.

The governor also urged Muslims to continue to uphold the virtues of patience, tolerance, sacrifice, and generosity exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim, noting that such values are necessary for building a peaceful and prosperous society.

While appreciating the support of the people, Adeleke reiterated his resolve to sustain ongoing development projects across the state, stressing that governance must reflect the aspirations and wellbeing of the masses.

He, however, warned against attempts by individuals to exploit religious or political sentiments to divide the people, adding that Osun State has continued to enjoy stability and development because residents have embraced unity and collective progress over bitterness.

Adeleke further encouraged citizens to extend support to the needy, vulnerable, and less privileged during the Eid-el-Kabir celebration, saying compassion and humanity remain central to the message of the festival.

He also called on residents to continue praying for peace, unity, and progress in Osun State and Nigeria.
