Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has congratulated his deputy, Obafemi Hamzat, on his emergence as the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for the 2027 election in Lagos State.
In a statement issued on Friday, Sanwo-Olu described Hamzat’s victory at the party’s direct primary held across the state on Thursday as a reflection of confidence in his leadership and in the continuity of the current administration’s developmental agenda.
The governor noted that the large turnout of party members at various polling centres demonstrated strong support for the deputy governor and trust in his ability to consolidate on existing achievements in the state.
He also expressed appreciation to APC members across Lagos State for what he described as their loyalty, unity and orderly conduct throughout the primary election process.
Sanwo-Olu urged party faithful not to relent in their efforts as preparations continue ahead of the 2027 general elections, stressing the need for sustained mobilisation and unity within the party.
“On behalf of my family, I congratulate Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat on his emergence as the standard bearer of our great party, the All Progressives Congress, in next year’s gubernatorial election in Lagos,” he said.
“It is my belief that your personal vision for the continuous growth and development of our State will be for the benefit of all,” the governor added.
The APC primary in Lagos is part of wider party preparations ahead of the 2027 governorship polls.
