Nigeria’s ambassador designate to South Africa, Femi Fani-Kayode, on Thursday said he held separate meetings with former Zamfara governor and Chairman of the Senate Committee on Water Resources, Abdul’Aziz Yari, and Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, during a visit to the state.
In a post shared on Thursday, Fani-Kayode described his visit to Talata Mafara and Gusau as productive, saying discussions focused on “our great party and nation.”
He said he first visited Yari at his country home in Talata Mafara before proceeding to Gusau, where he spent time with Governor Lawal.
Fani-Kayode expressed appreciation to both political figures for the warm reception accorded to him during the trip.
According to him, Zamfara State has witnessed remarkable transformation and rapid development under the current administration, adding that the progress in the state was evident.
The former minister also referenced his traditional title of Sadaukin Shinkafi, which he said was conferred on him in 2020 during the administration of former Zamfara governor and current Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle.
He noted that the title gives him a special connection with Zamfara State, adding that he hopes to visit the ancient town of Shinkafi on his next trip to pay homage to the Emir.
Fani-Kayode prayed for continued peace, progress and divine guidance for the people and leadership of Zamfara State.
