Deputy Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mojisola Meranda, has described her emergence as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Apapa Constituency I as a collective victory for party members and residents committed to progress and unity in the constituency.

Meranda stated this on Thursday while reacting to her victory at the APC House of Assembly primary election held in Apapa on Wednesday.

The deputy speaker secured the party’s ticket after defeating three other aspirants in the exercise conducted under the supervision of officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Speaking after the primary, Meranda expressed gratitude to party leaders, delegates, supporters and members of her political structure for what she described as overwhelming support and confidence in her leadership.

“This victory is not mine alone; it belongs to every person who believes in our shared vision of progress, unity and purposeful representation,” she said.

She added that the outcome of the primary reflected the trust reposed in her by party faithful and residents of Apapa Constituency I.

According to her, the renewed mandate would further strengthen her commitment to delivering quality representation and sustaining development across the constituency.

Meranda also pledged to continue working towards the peace, growth and prosperity of the constituency, assuring supporters that she would remain dedicated to their welfare and aspirations.

“I do not take this renewed mandate for granted, and by the grace of God, I will continue to work tirelessly for the peace, progress and prosperity of our people,” she added.

The APC primary, held at Ijora Oloye Nursery and Primary School in Ijora, attracted a large turnout of delegates and party supporters, while security personnel from the Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Police Force and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) maintained order at the venue.

Meranda polled 2,926 votes to defeat fellow aspirants Esan Adedotun, Mike Egbayelo and Elizabeth Toluwalope.

In an earlier parallel exercise conducted across the five wards in Apapa Constituency I, Meranda also secured 6,062 votes, defeating her closest rival, Ayo Vaughan, who polled 1,385 votes.
